Adventure on the KZN South Coast

Gorge swings, shark dives, trail runs and championship golf. The South Coast is built for the outdoors.

The Southern Explorer

Beyond the beaches, the South Coast is one of the country's great adventure playgrounds. Whether you want adrenaline or a slow morning on a forest trail, it is all within a short drive.

On and under the water

Dive the Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks, surf and learn to surf around Umzumbe, or head onto the Umzimkulu River for kayaking, stand-up paddling and river cruises. Anglers have their pick of piers and rock marks from Margate to Uvongo.

On land

  • Wild 5 Adventures at Oribi Gorge for the gorge swing, ziplining, abseiling and suspension bridges.
  • Horse riding at Lake Eland and Selsdon Park.
  • Over 35 nature trails, from the Ingeli forest to the KwaXolo Caves and their San rock art.
  • Dezzi Raceway for motorsport, and scenic flights with local aviation schools.

For the golfers

The region is a golf destination in its own right, with 11 courses including the Wild Coast Sun Country Club. Play a different layout every day of your stay.
